One of the main problems we face today is climate change
The Café de la Plaza restaurant in the small town of Caserres is a wonderful example of how it is possible to contribute to the fight against climate change without compromising the quality of the dining experience.
Located in a beautiful mountainous region of Catalonia, the restaurant has been offering, since 1932, a delicious and modern take on traditional dishes, handcrafted with the finest local ingredients, as well as a daily menu for all tastes, served with the same warm, traditional hospitality as always.
The owner of the Café de la Plaza, in an effort to further protect the unique setting where it is located, decided to take steps to reduce its environmental impact, which meant reducing its carbon footprint.
To this end, they worked closely with the Carbon Footprint Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating climate change.
This association trained the restaurant staff on how to calculate their carbon footprint and how to reduce it.
The action plan included reducing energy use and implementing a carbon footprint reduction program.
To offset the carbon dioxide it generated, the café in the square also planted trees in various locations throughout Catalonia and around the world with the help of nonprofit organizations, with the goal of restoring and preserving local and global forests.
The restaurant also shared its commitment to the environment with its customers and visitors, presenting its action plan and the results achieved with the free assistance of the Carbon Footprint Association.
As you can see, the café in the Plaza has made a great effort to reduce its carbon footprint and offset its carbon dioxide emissions.
Because of its commitment to the environment, it serves as an example for restaurants of how they can contribute to the fight against climate change without compromising the quality of the dining experience.
