1. What is the MITECO Carbon Footprint Registry?
The "Registry of carbon footprint, offsetting and CO₂ absorption projects" of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO) is the public database that recognizes, validates and seals an entity's efforts to calculate, reduce and - if desired - offset its emissions.

Legal framework: Royal Decree 214/2025 and subsequent updates.

Certified scopes: it gathers the efforts of Spanish organizations in the calculation and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions generated by their activities.

Official label: "I calculate / I reduce / I compensate", updated every year.

Registration fee: 0 € (the application process with MITECO is free)
Cost of our support and training service: free for organizations that do not have the resources to do this on their own.
Note: For all other organizations, we accept donations for ongoing projects (see the crowdsourcing and fundraising sections). The goal is to continue providing free training to citizens and businesses.

5. Validity of the seal and subsequent obligations
Stamp and Certificate of Registration
- The government entity (national or regional) reviews the submitted data and may require changes, clarifications, adjustments, etc... Once the seal is received, it must be used in accordance with the usage guidelines provided with it (how to communicate with the registration seal). The registration seal and certificate will be included in the annual reports of the Carbon Footprint Registry activity, with information on the status of registrations and other relevant data.

- Reflects the degree of effort made by the entity in the fight against climate change.
