Update to MITECO's 2023 Carbon Footprint Calculator


MITECO has released the new version of its carbon footprint calculator for 2023, V.29, which includes several significant improvements and updates based on the latest data and studies. Here are the highlights to help you stay up to date:

"Emission Factors" tab:


The emission factors applicable to the 2023 carbon footprint calculations have been added.
Emissions factors from previous years are updated using data provided by the Spanish Inventory System and the National Greenhouse Gas Inventory (1990–2022). 2024 Edition.
Modification of PCA values based on the Supplementary Material for Chapter 7 of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report.

"Fixed Installations" tab:

Inclusion of diesel A and gasoline.

Generator sets are reclassified as fixed installations rather than mobile machinery.

"Vehicles and Machinery" tab:
Introduction of LNG fuel for trucks and AdBlue additive for diesel vehicles.
Emissions factors are broken down by "Trucks and buses" and "Mopeds and motorcycles."
Modification of the source of emission factors per kilometer for diesel and CNG used in trucks.

"Fugitive Emissions" tab:
Inclusion of HCFC-22 (R22) gas.

These updates are essential for continuing to improve the accuracy of carbon footprint measurements and promoting more sustainable practices across all organizations.
